-I made this voki to explain the importance of technology standards in the school system.
My Assitive Technology Assignment:
1. I learned that assitive technology is extremely useful for disable individuals. In fact, for most of them, it provides the only way to success. There are so many different kinds of assitive technology! I never realized that before.
2. What impressed me the most was the customized musical instrument in the second video. I showed me that teachers can work with members of the community to invent assitive technology for whatever situation.
3. Teachnology provides these students with the potential to go to school just like any other kid. It even provides students with the potential to go to a higher learning establishment.
4. In high school, I knew a guy that used a laptop to take notes with because he had muscle problems in his hands. The laptop was very useful to him and enabled him to overcome his obstacle.
5. This assignment has given me inspiration to bring as much creativitiy and innovation to the classroom as possible. I will, most likely, have to accommodate special education students. I now feel much more prepared.

My Reflection of the virtual field trip:
Today, I took a field trip on the Lewis and Clark Trail. How did I do this all in one day? It was a virtual field trip provided by www.lewisandclarktrail.com. What a great way to integrate technology into my future classroom! This site organized the information so well that everything I wanted to know was easily accessible. With maps, videos, articles, and more, this site is perfect for high school students that need to learn about the Lewis and Clark Trail. They also include references and books where you can learn more about specific aspects of the trail. I am very interested personally in the Lewis Clark Trail because I have traveled on some of it. This past summer I went to Montana and Wyoming, where I experienced the same terrain that these two explorers did. This site really helped me connect with that experience once again. I also took the whaling virtual field trip. This would be another great site to help me teach an American History class.

In completing the learning styles survey, did you learn anything new about your personal learning style, or did the information confirm what you have already determined about how you learn best? Were there any suggestions offered for improving your study skills that you had not considered before?
Yes! Apparently I am more of an oral learner than I first thought. Although, the rest of the information, such as being musically intelligent, I already knew. I pretty much knew all of the study skills they recommended to me already.
What was your overall impression of the CAST website?
I thought that it had a lot of good information and definitely made a strong case for UDL. It isn’t just based on education theories, it is based on scientific facts.
Did you find any interesting information in the electronic version of Teaching Every Student in the Digital Age? Describe how you might incorporate that information in your teaching.
Chapter two was particularly interesting because it described how everyone’s brain reacts differently to the same stimuli. I could assign projects that let the students be creative and decide how they are going to present them (i.e. verbally, visually, etc.).
What was your reaction to the 2 activities in which you participated? Did you gain any new insight into your strengths and talents through these exercises?
They definitely showed me how everyone’s brain works differently. I picked out specific objects in the picture, while everyone picked out different ones. This helped me understand that everyone can see things from a different point of view.
Many of my students have responded quite positively to the materials at CAST. How do you feel about this approach to developing differentiated instruction?
I am all for developing differentiated instruction in my teaching. In fact, I believe it is necessary for the ever-growing diversity of this world.
What would you like to know/explore more at CAST?
I would like to read the rest of the chapters and try out other activities.
